Boston, Massachusetts, Earns Silver Medal for 2024 Ranking of Happiest Cities in the Country

Boston is home to so many things that make us happy, so it's no wonder it was chosen as the 2nd happiest city in the country.

Here are just a few things that are iconic to Boston, Massachusetts:

Fenway Park

Boston Museum of Fine Arts

Boston Commons

The Boston Public Library

There's also the Prudential Center (which provides so many people hours and hours of shopping), and Berklee College of Music (which educates the next generation of fine musicians).  I could go on and on.  I mean, I haven't even mentioned the Boston Sports teams!  Apparently, other people feel the same way.

The Institute for Quality of Life's Happy City index put our beloved Bean Town as the second happiest city in the United States.

The article ranks not only American cities but other cities throughout the world, based on education, inclusive policies, economy, mobility, environmental protection, access to green areas, availability of resources, and other factors.

Minneapolis was the number one American city that made the list, and the only one in the country taking the gold medal.  That was followed by Boston, then Baltimore, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Madison, Pittsburgh, Rochester, New York, and Portland, Oregon.

I do love Boston.  My husband has been teaching there for decades. At one point, we almost relocated, but the cost of real estate is sky-high (that's the not-so-happy part of Boston).  We choose to stay here in New Hampshire.

In my book, the one factor that makes a city happy is the people in it, no matter where you live.
