The Kennebec Room and Nightcap Lounge Are Officially Open in Augusta

We’ve been talking about it for months, but now I can finally say it: The Kennebec Room and Nightcap Lounge are officially open in downtown Augusta.

I’ve written about this place a couple of times already, from when we first learned what was coming to 271 Water Street to when they finally announced an opening date. Now the doors are open, and we finally got a look at the menu.

This Menu Has Some Fun Stuff

There are burgers, wings and fries, but there are also some things you don't see on every menu downtown.

The Pork Katsu immediately caught my attention, with crispy pork, kimchi, bok choy and Korean sweet potato purée. There’s also a Crispy Goat salad with fried goat cheese, apples and maple balsamic, plus a Bacon Jam Smash topped with aged cheddar, pickled onion and house bacon jam.

Even the cocktail menu has some fun twists, including an Apple Pie Tai, Pickle Martini and Jalapeño Coconut Margarita.

And My Gluten-Free People, Listen Up

One thing you won't see is gluten-free markings on the menu, BUT The Kennebec Room shared something pretty exciting in a Facebook comment.

According to the restaurant, their fryers are completely gluten-free, and so is the breading for their fried items. They also offer gluten-free buns for their sandwiches and handhelds.

That means those fried pickles and wings suddenly have my attention.

After all the waiting, The Kennebec Room and Nightcap Lounge are officially here, and this menu definitely gives us plenty to start trying.
