Large Storm on Track to Bring Heavy Precip, Likely Power Outages to Maine & New Hampshire

It's December in Maine, and it's par for the course that we're gonna be following some powerful winter storms as we get closer to Christmastime. However, it's not always going to be snow when these large winter storms move in.

According to WGME Chief Meteorologist, Christian Bridges, another large storm is expected to land over the northeast on Monday into Tuesday. And, according to Bridges, it's going to absolutely saturate the Pine Tree State.

Bridges is reporting that following a pretty mild weekend, clouds will be on the increase as head into late Sunday afternoon and into the evening hours. He says that the rain will begin to move across Maine through Sunday night and that the precipitation, often heavy in nature, will fall across the region for most of the day on Monday.

Because the temperatures on Monday will range from the 40s through the 50s, this winter storm will be primarily rain for most Maine towns. The other issue with this storm will be the onslaught of wind that comes with it during the day on Monday.

With rainfall totals reaching the 2 inch mark for most Maine towns and wind gusts likely exceeding 40 miles per hour, there is growing likelihood that Maine and New Hampshire will experience widespread power outages.

Following the Monday storm, Bridges indicated that another storm, though smaller, will bring showers to Maine on Tuesday during the day. After the smaller Tuesday storm, Maine can expect to see returning sunshine with temperatures into the 30s for much of the workweek.
