2 Unexpected Maine Cities Make the 2025 List of Best Places to Retire

Our pals at WalletHub collected some data on the best spots in the nation to retire to and you may be a bit shocked on the towns that popped up from Maine.  

Most of the time folks are thinking about fleeing somewhere warm all-year-long. These cities are certainly not that!  

What cities are the best to retire to?  

Lewiston and Portland have slid into the spots on Wallethubs 2025 list of the best spots to retire in the nation.

Who knew that Maine pulled in such a “retire here” vibe? 

According to the report, Portland is sitting pretty at the 40th spot out of 182 cities.

Portland is pretty charming, it’s a vibrant and electric city with so many fun shops and restaurants.

Wallethub also points out that Portland has good healthcare facilities which would make anyone feel safe after retirement.  So, that’s a plus!  

Lewiston wasn’t too far behind and made the list as the 119th spot.

As per the report, Lewiston gives so much culture, historical landmarks, with a very tight community. Plus, the cost of living will help you breath easy as you retire!  

How did they determine Portland and Lewiston are the best?  

As per the report, they considered important factors like how affordable it would be to live in these places, the over all quality-of-life and of course, healthcare.

And apparently, who knew that both Portland Lewiston shine in those categories!
