Maine Border Patrol Apprehends Dozens of Illegal Crossers, Significant Amount of Cash
According to WABI TV 5, border patrol agents in the Northern Maine town of Houlton have take several people into custody after they allegedly tried to cross into Maine from Canada illegally last Friday.
The 27 people, travelling in four different vehicles, were taken into custody are reportedly from Romania and were travelling with what officials are calling a 'significant amount' of currency that was both US and foreign currency.
After the apprehension reports indicate that at least one of the people in custody was taken to the hospital for treatment of a medical concern, though was later released back to border patrol agents.
According to WABI TV 5, those that were in custody are now back in Canada. No word on if any charges are pending in Canada. We will keep this story updated.
