When it comes to delicious comfort food, there are many different items to choose from, however, are any as good as a hot and delicious French fry?

And what exactly constitutes a delicious fry?

To me, it has to be crispy-crunchy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Additionally, you have to cover them in a healthy coating of salt.

Maybe healthy was the wrong choice of words there.

At any rate, it's hard to argue that at any given moment, a hot and tasty fry can instantly make you feel better. And, at the very least, an order of fries can take away the miserable SOB you were being while you were hangry.

Now, where do you go for the best fries in Maine? Of course, there is no one-size-fits-all answer because everyone's taste buds are a little different. However, as a bit of an obese expert on fried foods, I figured my opinion might be worth its weight in starch.

Since the weather was so nice this past weekend, my wife insisted that we go out for a ride on the Harley. Naturally, I instantly agreed that this was an excellent idea. She said she didn't care where we went as long as a late lunch was involved. After hemming and hawing about it for a few minutes I realized it had been ages since I had my favorite pub-style fries on planet earth.

Fast forward about an hour and my wife and I are bellied up to the bar at T&B's Outback Tavern in Skowhegan.

If you haven't been, this place is AWESOME. Not only do they have a huge event space, a 16-lane bowling alley, and a large arcade, but they also have the best fries around.

My wife ordered the applewood chicken salad and I got a small order of crispy chicken tenders and a large order of pub fries. It had been YEARS since I had the pub fries at T&B's, and they were just as I remembered. Perfectly salted, crispy exterior and fluffy interior. It was comfort-food Heaven.

So, if you're in the market for some tasty grub and really want fries that pop, you should look no further than T&B's Outback Tavern in Skowhegan. And while you're there, say hi to Terry & Brenda... you know, the T and B in T&B's!

Check out their huge menu here!
