Maine Candy Company To Change Name Over Racial Concerns
In recent days, we've seen the cancellation of TV shows, classic movies being removed from streaming services, the removal of monuments, and changes to many major American companies. Being made following the murder of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, these changes are being done over concerns about racial incensitivity.
According to WABI TV, a Maine chocolate company is the latest to make a change over concerns about racial incensitity.
Black Dinah Chocolatiers, located in Westbrook, has announced they intend to change their name in the near future.
Named after Black Dinah Mountain on Isle au Haut, they began hearing negative feedback about their name following their recent move to Westbrook. In fact, they had been planning to make a name change months before the killing of George Floyd.
According to owner Kate Shaffer says they plan to unveil their new name soon.
