It's never good when an item that pretty much everyone has and used every single day gets recalled. But unfortunately, that's exactly what has happened.

According to the Unites States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the appliance giant, Frigidaire, has recalled a whopping 380,000 refrigerators due to a chocking and laceration risk.

The affected fridges apparently contain a component on the built-in ice tray that has been shown to break. This break can then allow sharp and jagged pieces of plastic to enter the ice tray where it then gets dispensed into a drink with ice.

As of February of 2024, there have been more than 340 reports of broken pieces of plastic coming off of the ice bucket in the fridge. Of those 340+ reports, two of them ended up resulting in 'laceration and ingestion' issues, according to the US CPSC.

If you have one of the 17+ affected fridge models, the US CPSC tells consumers that they should immediately stop using the ice makers and contact Electrolux Group to request a replacement ice bucket assembly component, free of charge.

The recall affects 383,000 individual units, of which 5,785 were sold in Canada according to Frigidaire.
