It's March in Maine, and it's almost time to change the clocks ahead. However, that doesn't mean that winter is over yet.

But, it could possibly mean that winter weather is over.

According to WGME 13, Maine is going to get wet like towelette over the next week or so.

Sadly, however, this is not welcome news to skiers, snowmobilers and ice fishers alike in Maine. This is mostly because the storms we're expected to get won't be producing snow or cold air.

Much to the dismay of winter sports enthusiasts, these storms only look to enhance our already earlier-than-normal "mud season" in Maine.

The precip winds up for most all of Maine by midday on Tuesday as rain, which could be heavy at times, will be accompanied by temperatures near 40 degrees, according to WGME.

The next system is expected to move in on Thursday morning and again will bring buckets of rain to a good chunk of central, southern and eastern Maine, according to the weather team at the news station.

WGME also noted that temperatures during the day on Thursday will be in the low 40s. A perfect recipe for more mud!

On Sunday, the final of the "big 3" storms moves in during the evening, according to WMGE.

This storm still has a few unanswered questions as temperatures on Sunday evening are predicted to approach the freezing mark.

So while there's still a chance that the precip could change over to snow, it still won't be enough for any real recreational activities to take place... instead, it would just be a snowy, muddy mess, according to WGME.
