According to WGME 13, Wednesday afternoon crash has left a Maine mom and her toddler-aged daughter in serious condition.

The news station reports that the crash happened just before 4:30 on Route 113 in the Maine town of Standish.

Officials tell reporters that a Volvo, driven by a 32-year-old woman from Standish, Maine, crossed over the centerline of Route 113 and struck an oncoming dump truck.

The driver of the dump truck, a 55-year-old man, also from Standish, was evidently unable to avoid the crash as the dump truck was fully loaded with dirt.

WGME reports that the 32-year-old woman driving the Volvo sustained was officials are calling life-threatening injuries. She was Lifeflighted from the scene to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The woman's 2-year old daughter was also seriously injured in the crash and was transported from the scene to Maine Medical Center. Police say the toddler had been properly restrained in a child safety seat.

WGME says at this time police say that neither speed nor alcohol were factors. However police are currently investigating whether or not distracted driving may have been a cause in the crash.

No injuries were reported from the driver of the dump truck.
