According to the KJ, Maine now has an official ballad!

Earlier today (June 7th, 2019), Gov. Janet Mills signed into law the bill that makes "The Ballad of The 20th Maine: the state's official ballad.

Griffin Sherry, Sean McCarthy, and Max Davis of the band The Ghost of Paul Revere performed it at the Maine statehouse following the signing.

Written by Griffin Sherry, it tells the story of how the 20th Maine Regiment helped win the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg.

Hear it here:

The ballad of Maine is not to be confused with the official song of Maine.  Adopted in 1937, it is called "The State of Maine"
