Maine Restaurant in Business For 137 Years Closes Permanently

It’s a very sad day in Rumford as one of the town’s most cherished landmarks The Hotel Rumford closes its doors one last time.  

And get this: The Rumford Hotel has been in business for 137 years, serving their community like rockstars. The epic restaurant is now officially saying goodbye to the amazing team, loyal patrons, and the entire city that has supported them through over one hundred years of business

The Hotel Rumford is located at 65 Canal Street.

In a deeply loving and sad message shared by the owner on Facebook, they say goodbye.

“As I sit down to write this, my heart feels heavy yet full of gratitude for the extraordinary journey we’ve experienced together,” 

"It’s hard to believe that we are saying goodbye to a place we never dreamed we could call our own."

A bitter sweet goodbye in Rumford

From the first day they opened their doors, The Hotel Rumford wasn’t just another restaurant, it became an important part of the community as a hub for connection, food, and togetherness. 

The dedication to their patrons has set them apart and that’s what’s going to make it so hard to not stop by anymore. I am sure that the memories created there will live on through the hearts of all who enjoyed this restaurant.
