Maine Snowfall Totals For This Week’s Storm Just Went up Overnight, Did You Notice?
According to Roger Griswold at WMTW News 8, it looks like some areas of Maine that were originally predicted to receive a little less snow have been now been updated and appear to be getting a little bit more.
Honestly, when you think about it, we've been pretty lucky here in Maine this winter. Lucky if you're someone who doesn't really care for large and messy snow events. Sure, we've had our fair share of small events that leave a few inches behind, but nothing that we would call a blockbuster.
Well, it looks like that is going to change over the coming days as a whopper of a Nor'easter prepares to move into the region. The storm, which will start for most of us on Wednesday afternoon and evening, will be a long-duration storm.
This means that the precipitation is going to last over the course of two or three days. Cool, huh? It looks like, at least according to the most recent forecast models, the storm will start out as rain or a mix for most of us, before changing to all snow Wednesday night, and then tapering off Friday morning as more mixed precip.
It's "the storm we never got during the winter" as a major winter storm arrives midweek. Heavy wet snow and high winds will lead to power outages for many. Snowfall amounts along the coast are highly questionable and will most likely be increased. Portland is now in the 8-12" zone and I'd lean high on that. Updates are likely on Tuesday.
