Maine Man Arrested for Threats Against University of New England

A Cornish man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he made threats against the University of New England.

The Department of Public Safety reports that 24-year-old Blake Tibbetts was overheard making threatening remarks at a local restaurant. Following the incident, law enforcement took Tibbetts into custody and he is being held at the York County Jail.

Officials say the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office and the FBI were called in to assist with the investigation. During a search of Tibbetts’ home, authorities discovered materials that could potentially be used to make explosives, prompting concerns for public safety.
