A Maine woman is in custody following a spree of alleged crimes, police say.

According to an article published by WGME 13, a 30-year-old Maine woman was taken into custody on Monday night after police say she caused thousands in damage and allegedly stole a canoe.

WGME says that at around 10:30 on Monday night, they responded to investigate reports of apparent property damage in the vicinity of the Rockland, Maine public landing.

Reports of the alleged vandalism indicated that the woman had stolen a nearby canoe and taken off into the darkness.

Police were eventually able to catch up to the alleged suspect in the canoe. After making initial contact with her, WGME reported that the woman stripped off all of her clothes and jumped into the water and got onto a lobster boat.

The woman then allegedly attempted to untie the lobster boat in an apparent attempt to steal the vessel. However, Rockland Police were able to foil her plans and take her into custody without any further incident.

WGME reports that officers investigating the matter have tied the woman to nearly $10,000 in damage done at the boat landing including smashed windows in parked cars in the area.

Following her arrest, Sierra McDonald, 30, was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center for a brief evaluation.

Following her visit to the hospital, McDonald was subsequently charged with several crimes including theft, criminal mischief, aggravated criminal mischief and violation of conditions of release, WGME said.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
