Lizzy here, yesterday, we had the incredible honor of receiving the Outstanding Community Partner Award at the Sable Oaks Marriott in South Portland.

This special recognition was given to us by the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) of Maine, in partnership with Special Olympics Maine (SOME), and it truly took us by surprise.

It’s all for the 92 Moose Annual Request-a-thon where we as DJs broadcast for 12 hours on-air live, raising money for the athletes! Our goal is always to raise $10,000 and this year it will take place on June 5th! Be listening!

And get this guys, this award, which was being given for the first time ever, humbled both of us to the core.

Candice Simone from the Kennebunk Police Department, presented us and shared the most heart-warming remarks on the impact Matt & Lizzy and 92 Moose has had on LETR.

Honestly, when we walked up to receive the award, we were both completely awestruck.

Look how cute we are though.

And, this was our very first award as Matt and Lizzy in the Morning together, on 92 Moose.

We’ve always loved being part of the Maine community, and to be recognized in this way for our support of the Special Olympics and LETR was something we’ll never forget.

Candice's speech was amazing saying in part,

“92 Moose has consistently held request a thons for SOME/Torch Run year after year raising about $10,000 for the single day event! The voices (or shall I say hearts) behind this Request a thon fundraiser is Matt & Lizzy. There have even been times when no law enforcement has been able to participate to help, and yet they STILL reach amazing goals and carry our passion in our absence. Matt and Lizzy specifically have made this happen-the hosts literally stay ALL day for this event themselves. Matt and Lizzy from 92 MOOSE absolutely deserve a HUGE thanks and this award is a way for us to show how very appreciated they are for embracing exactly what this award is: an outstanding partner who exudes selfless support, incredible contributions and continued partnership to help raise awareness about our athletes and ME LETR fundraising efforts.”

However, it got really interesting when we went up to speak to the audience and thank everyone. Matt was posed and informative and so very humble in his words. I however, well, you never know what I am going to say. It started off alright, but well, you can see for yourself in the video on 92 Moose Instagram below.

There are a few words you never want to yell in a public space and one of them is, fire. I didn’t just yell it once either, it was like several times.

I was remarking on how the physical award was a flame and said “This is fire, and you are on fire, and I’m on fire, and we all on fire!” Like I said, you just never know what’s going to happen with us.

On a more personal note, as we move toward the future with our morning show, we’ll carry this outstanding moment with us.

This award and recognition reminds us that we’re not just a team on the radio, we are a part of something so much larger and we will continue to fight to support our community.

Make sure to tune into the 2025 Request-a-thon all for LETR Special Olympics Maine!

Special thanks to all athletes and law enforcement and who take part and work so hard to make this event a success.
