Apparently, even celebrities do a little celebrity sightseeing when they come to Maine.

Comedian Matt Rife was in Bangor this weekend for a show, bringing plenty of fans out to see one of the biggest names in comedy right now. But while Mainers were excited to see Rife, it looks like he had a famous Maine name that he wanted to check out for himself: Stephen King.

And considering Rife is a big Halloween and horror enthusiast, this stop makes perfect sense.

While in Bangor, Rife made his way over to Stephen King’s famous house, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. He shared a photo outside the property on his Instagram Story with the caption, “When in Maine,” along with a ghost, red balloon, axe and vampire emoji. The red balloon was an especially fitting touch for anyone familiar with King’s IT.

Rife’s appreciation for the Maine horror legend didn’t stop there, either. During his Bangor performance, he even wore a Stephen King shirt onstage.

There’s something pretty funny about the whole thing. Matt Rife comes to Maine with thousands of fans hoping to see him, and then turns around and does a little celebrity sightseeing of his own.

For a Halloween lover visiting Bangor, though, could there really be a more appropriate stop?

When you’re in Stephen King country, apparently you have to pay your respects to the King of Horror.

Stephen King's Bangor

Thousands of King fans visit Bangor every year, and it seems all of them go to his house on West Broadway. (Yes, that's on the list.) But the city features many landmarks that appear in some shape or form in one or more of King's stories.
