Memorial Day is Extra Special for Local Veteran Who Stands at Attention for Hours [Video]

Ricky Harrington will get to the old Veteran's Cemetery, on Route 27 in Augusta, early Monday morning, to set up the beautiful memorial he created. Later, beginning at 10AM, he will stand at attention for 3 continuous hours without a break paying homage to those veterans who have passed.

See, Ricky is a veteran of the USMC and, as such, feels a bond with all who served and is, in fact, humbled by the service of others as I am humbled by both his service and his commitment to carry out this honorable mission every year.

As he spoke about veterans past this morning, he had all he could do not to choke up. This is a man who loves his country and reveres the men and women he served with.

If you get a chance, stop by this Monday between 10 and 1 to see the man and the memorial and, most of all, enjoy the silence as you are surrounded by scores of military men and women, many of whom paid the ultimate price for the freedom we all enjoy.
