Several Missing Children Found, Rescued From a Maine Lake Sunday
According to an article published by WGME 13, several youths were rescued from a Maine lake after noontime on Sunday.
The news station reported that the Ellsworth Fire Department received a call for help from the Kids Peace group home. They told officials that four 12-year-olds were missing from the home and didn't know where they were.
Staff at the home went on to explain to rescue crews that the children missing were dressed only in their PJs and were in no way dressed or prepared for the frigid Sunday temperatures, according to WGME.
After receiving all necessary information, rescue crews with the fire department and the Maine Warden Service began searching the area near the Ellsworth group home. It wasn't long until the children were located, the news station reported.
WGME said that one of the kids was spotted by a first responder out on the ice of Graham Lake and another child was spotted near the island but had fallen through the ice.
The third and fourth child were found safely near the island, according to WGME. Rescuers then utilized a canoe to go out and get the child out of the water before eventually going back for the other three, the news station added.
WGME said that all four kids were treated for apparent hypothermia at the scene of the rescue. Following on-site treatment, the children were then transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
WGME concluded that all four children are now okay and are all expected to make a full recovery.
