Jessi Mallory's journey as Maine's only female Elvis impersonator started at the very young age of 4 when her Mom gave her the first Elvis record. That record changed her life!

I was lucky enough to interview Jessi about her unique life and after speaking to her, I think she may also be New England's only female impersonator. But let's start with Maine.

She told me she was absolutely drawn in by Elvis Presley's voice, looks, and spent hours in her room mimicking his legendary moves and singing.

Later in life, Jessi won a Halloween costume contest dressed as Elvis. She had the entire look down with the side burns and black hair. There were male impersonators there as well, however that didn't phase her.

So despite resistance from the male competitors, Jessi persisted! She refused to be confined by the expectations placed on female Elvis impersonators, and chose to continue on with her authentic male Elvis style, instead of dressing in more a feminine way. The male competitors even tried to undermine her, but her talent and unending perseverance shined through.

This was during the beginning days of COVID when she began live-streaming performances on Facebook to lift spirits during our quarantine.

That gained her fans all around the world. Jessi was able to show everyone that her gender does not limit her talent and ability to honor the king.

So, today, she stands out as Maine's only female Elvis tribute artist, recognized not just as a “female” Elvis impersonator, but as an legit tribute artist in her own right.

Jessi’s accomplishments definitely speak for themselves. Jessi has now been inducted into the Elvis Tribute Artist Hall of Fame, rubbing shoulders with names like John Stamos, and placed in the top three at an Elvis Festival in Toronto, beating out 14 male competitors.

She has such a strong dedication to Elvis's legacy that it has earned her features in books, online articles, and even on Elvis Radio. One of her highlights was performing at Elvis’s only Maine concert at the Augusta Civic Center which is an honor that resonated deeply with her as an Elvis fan first and foremost.

Jessi is a Maine woman paving the way for other young girls to follow their dreams, especially if they are male dominated.

Do it anyway.
