An Open Letter to The Person Who Sped Through School Bus Red Lights in Augusta, Maine
The move we have made from our former studio location behind the laundromat at the Augusta Plaza to Water Street in downtown has been absolutely epic.
For starters, we're finally in a brand new space with fresh paint and state-of-the-art broadcast gear. In addition, we also now have windows. Big ones. Floor to ceiling suckers that encompass the entire studio. Basically what I'm getting at is that we can see everything.
This means that when you do a terrible job parallel parking and you hope no one saw, we totally did- and we're silently judging you. Not in a bad way though, we're also quietly rooting you on because we're no better at it.
However, we also see some stuff that we wish we didn't, including people running through school bus flashing stop signs. That's exactly what happened this morning, 5-22-2025.

Lizzy and I were doing our show like we do every morning when we began to hear a honking horn. But this horn was different because it wasn't stopping. We quickly looked out the window to see and Augusta School bus with its lights flashing and stop sign deployed.
We also saw a gray SUV go speeding by in the opposite direction completely ignoring the stopped bus. So to the driver of that car, I say 'how dare you'.
How dare you not heed the signal of the school bus that was stopped where multiple small children were about to cross from the OPPOSITE side of the road. How dare you endanger children with complete disregard.

Maybe you really had somewhere you needed to be at a certain time and were running late- I get it, it happens to all of us. Regardless of the reason, you had no right to endanger multiple lives this morning during the school commute.
I wish so badly I would have gotten your license plate number because I would have shouted it from the rooftops. Maybe I'm so passionate about this as I have three sons of my own in school and who ride the bus. Or maybe it's because I'm just not a moron and always stop for red flashing lights on a school bus.
Either way, do better.
