Oxford Hills Graduate Marries One of The World’s Richest Women
Everyone knows Jeff Bezos, right? He's the Amazon guy and one of the richest people in the world.
A couple of years ago Jeff and his now ex-wife MacKenzie Scott got divorced. And with the divorce, Scott received a hefty sum of money and, according to the Sun Journal, now has a net worth of $53.5 billion making her one of the richest people in the world.
Scott has made quite the name for herself in her own right as an author and philanthropist. According to Forbes, she has published two novels and as of last summer, she'd given almost $1.7 billion to over 100 nonprofits.
After her marriage to Bezos ended in 2019, she eventually found her way to a man by the name of Dan Jewett. A 1994 graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in Paris, Maine.
In recent years Jewett had been a chemistry teacher at a private school in Seattle, reports the Sun Journal. This school is where MacKenzie Scott's children attended. (Imagine being a school teacher and then one of the wealthiest people in the world starts crushing on you! Someone get Hallmark on this before Christmas.)
Being an educator, of course, is typically one that's quite humble. Not to mention being a young man of Paris, Maine is certainly humble beginnings. MacKenzie Scott has long been open about wanting to give away the majority of her wealth over her lifetime and Jewett is excited for the opportunity to spend his life paying it forward with his new wife by his side.
Even Jeff Bezos gave his stamp of approval and blessing in an official statement saying of Jewett that he's "a great guy," and that he's "happy and excited for the both of them."
Cheers to the happy couple who I'm sure will be finding time to visit the old stomping grounds in the future.
