The Summer of 2023 weather roller coaster continues this week with a mix of steamy weather and crazy, wild storms.

And, it looks like parts of Central Maine could be in for some nasty thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service website, the Augusta area is under a flood watch and a severe thunderstorm watch for most of the afternoon.

Additionally, according to WGME, the severe storms will roll into the Augusta / Waterville area sometimes just after 3 PM on Thursday.

The WGME article explains that we could see heavy rains that could cause flooding.  Additionally, there is a good chance that we could see damaging winds.  With all of the rain we have had over the last few months, the soil is very wet.  As a result, that could make it weaker than normal, increasing the chances that trees may fall down.

Clearly, as with any nasty weather, use your best judgement and be safe.  And, whatever you do, do not attempt to drive through flooded streets or roads.  It is possible that the water is way deeper than it looks!

Fortunately, it looks like the rain will leave our area overnight and tomorrow (Friday) will be a much nicer day.  We can expect mostly sunny skies and a high in the lower 90s.
