Police Seek Vandals Who Destroyed Dozens of Jay Maine Headstones
Some people absolutely suck. There are so many incredibly wonderful people that live and work here in the Central Maine community, then there are those who are not so incredibly wonderful.
According to WGME 13, the headstones were destroyed sometime on Friday, leaving many tipped over and even some shattered. Headstones damaged belong to a multitude of different people including some US Military Veterans.
Some of the headstones even date back as far as the 1800s. Several families reported to the cemetery following the vandalism to see if their family's stones were still intact. The International Cemetery Association told WGME that incidents like this are the highest near the Halloween season.
Anyone with information or leads in the investigation should contact the Jay, Maine Police Department at 207.897.6766
