When it comes to delicious chicken, I know a thing or two because I've eaten a thing or two. For me, there's nothing better than supporting our local eateries and their delicious chicken tenders, however, straying over to a national chain every once in a while is okay, too.

In recent months we've had Buffalo Wild Wings to go open on Western Avenue in Augusta. They always seem to be wicked busy whenever I go by which is a good sign, though I do kind of wish they had the full-on sports bar restaurant here in Augusta. But then again, I love sports.

According to the Kennebec Journal, another chain is headed for the Capital and will be bringing delicious chicken along with them. We've just gotten word that Popeyes is going to be coming to Western Avenue.

The most devastating part of this news to me is that it's going in at the plaza that we just moved out of. Now don't get me wrong, I'm super-excited that we are at our new spot in downtown on Water Street, but knowing that a freakin' fried chicken joint is being built right next to where I just was is kind of sad.

But I digress, this isn't about me- it's about you, the chicken lover, and you should be ecstatic that Popeyes is headed for the old K Mart Plaza in Augusta. As a matter of fact, Popeyes is apparently going in right where the 'old' Friendly's location was.

The Augusta Planning Board unanimously approved a minor development permit for the new restaurant on Tuesday, the KJ said. While some members expressed concerns about potential traffic backups from the drive-thru, many said they were glad to see the long-vacant site being brought back to life as a restaurant.
