We are getting reports from commuters in the Augusta, Maine area this morning that parts of Water Street are shut down with a large emergency response presence.

At this time, we're not exactly sure what has led to the large response or why the road is shut down, however, we are working with our contacts at both the Augusta Police Department and the Augusta Fire Department to determine the cause and when exactly the portion of road will be back open.

Water Street, North of the Calumet Bridge intersection, is currently blocked off with fire trucks. We're not sure exactly how far down the closure goes, but images received suggests the closure extends past the Colonial Theater.

This is a developing story that we will keep updated as more information comes in to us. In the meantime, we suggest avoiding the area as traffic congestion is likely near the closed section of road.
