How much do you love Christmas music. Myself, I love it on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. There are some holiday songs I love... Some others, not so much.
Today is Canada’s 148th birthday. A day our neighbors to the north celebrate the birth of their nation. Today in Canada celebrations often consist of a morning parade, family activities and fireworks at night. Canada became a nation on July 1, 1867.
The three of us (Jon, Renee & Mac) on the Moose Morning Show always share little gifts every year before Christmas. This year we thought we would make a video! Probably not the best idea. Merry Christmas from the Moose Morning Show!
I probably wrote something similar last year, but I feel the need to write about it again this year. I am thankful that in Maine, we don't have shopping for the most part on Thanksgiving.
Happy Festivus everyone! What? Not sure what Festivus is? It is the holiday for the rest of us. To comes from an episode of Seinfeld. Here is where our story begins....
I LOVE The House on Christmas Street by Maine native and Grammy nominated children's artist, Judy Pancoast. She graduated from Waterville High School and now lives in New Hampshire. Thanks to local orthadontist, Darryl Zeleniak (Dr. Zee), a self-professed computerized holiday lighting geek, she'll be part of the Augusta Tree Lighting Celebration tomorrow evening!
Today, Oct. 14, is Columbus Day. And as the years go by some to many Americans feel that Christopher Columbus shouldn't be celebrated. Many say he didn't discover America, and it was always here.
You probably do this too. Once a year sometimes twice we as a family go checking out the lights. There are a few places that go all out when decorating their houses other people are more subtle and just line lights along the eaves.
Dr. Darryl Zeleniak in Augusta is not just a terrific orthodontist (my daughter had him and loved him) but also a great guy who is passionate about, not only his work, but also, Christmas lights that are in sync with a variety of songs. When I say he's passionate, I'm not exaggerating!
There's nothing better than a small town community Christmas celebration and that's just what we had in Skowhegan earlier today. With the chill in the air and a very light snowfall, it was something akin to a Norman Rockwell scene and I loved it!
This was the pre-dawn crowd at K-Mart in Augusta as I pulled in to get ready for the show this morning and they were still lining up in droves. Apparently K-Mart didn't get the memo....
Okay, I've been having this discussion with Mac and Renee for years. White lights don't do it for me at Christmas. I want colors, lots of them, adorning the trees and streets. Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, they're little more than tiny versions of the white lights we have all around us, like street lights.
