I like Hallowell. In fact, when I was home shopping I wanted a home in Hallowell, but did not have any luck at that time. But since I live right next door in Augusta, Hallowell is ALWAYS waiting for me. I stumbled across this from the Boston Globe, 'Five Reasons to Visit Hallowell'...
I have known Jon James for over 23 years. A lifetime! And yet, every now and then a little detail comes up that blows my mind. I learned this week that Jon has never been to Vaughan Woods in Hallowell. Some people call it Hobbit Land. Jon was born and raised in the Gardiner-Augusta area. He has lived here his whole life, HOW is this possible?
This makes me sick to my stomach. What jerk does this to such a beautiful place? I wake up today to see a story in the KJ about vandals doing damage in Vaughan Woods in Hallowell. The 'person or people' who did this spray painted trees and the dam. How do you clean up trees?
