In the state of Maine, there are many places that you can go visit that are rumored to be haunted. There is one place however, that will let you have what could truly be a terrifying experience.

If you are looking for one of the creepiest hotels to stay in, well, I found it. The Inn at the Agora in Lewiston offers a very unique experience. Before I tell you what it is, let us go back and learn about the history of the building.

According to Only in Your State, the Inn at The Agora has a very long history. The building was built around 1850 by an architect named Captain Albert Kelsey. It originally served as a home until 1875. In 1875, the Roman Catholic Church purchased the house and later turned it into St. Patrick's Church.

The church closed its doors in 2009, according to the Inn at The Agora. Their website states that in 2014, Andrew Knight then purchased the building and turned it into what it is today, the Inn at The Agora. The actual church and chapel were renovated and became The Agora Grand Events Center, where today is where many weddings and events are hosted.

Okay, now that the history part is behind us, you are probably wondering well where is this terrifying experience that you write of, well, here it is. According to Only in Your State, there is a real crypt inside the building and yes you can go in it if you dare.

Unfortunately, you cannot stay overnight in the crypt, but you can request access for a few hours. If you're wondering what you would do while hanging out in this crypt, I have the answer. There is a coffin that sleeps two and a selection of DVDs.

If you are interested in booking a room and going into a real crypt, you can find more information here.
