The 5 Best Commercials of 2016
2016 has been one heck of a year. The Cubbies won the World Series, we just went through one of the craziest elections in American history, too many celebrities and cultural icons have passed away, and we still have more than a week to go.
Some of the best commercials of the year were funny, some were sad, but each of these made us stop and think about the message and the brand being advertised, which is the whole point of a great commercial. In our opinion, these are the best of 2016:
5 - 90th Macy's Thaksgiving Day Parade
4 - Ultrasound - Doritos
3 - Super Bowl Babies - NFL
2 - Commander - Audi
1 - Harry Caray's Last Call - Budweiser
You don't have to be a Cubs fan to get choked up at this one. Legendary baseball announcer Harry Caray died in 1998, long before he could see the only W that really mattered in Chicago - the last game of the World Series. Using clips from recordings of his old game calls, Budweiser stitched together what it might have sounded like if Harry called the last win of 2016. The commercial only ran once, and ends with a shot of his statue outside of Wrigley Field with the caption "Harry, they did it."
