We've all heard stories of restaurant servers getting surprised by unusually large tips that they never expected. It usually is somewhere far away, and happens to people that you don't know. So, imagine the surprise of two servers at the local iconic A-1 Diner in Gardiner when they both received a tip of $1000 each.

According to a story by WCSH-6 TV, a woman from Maine named Meredith Steele, who calls Bath home, has been using her Tik-Tok account for fundraising to surprise local servers in Maine with some holiday cheer they didn't expect, in the way of amazing tips.

Steele said she thought of the idea last year, and has been full steam ahead ever since. She says some people only donate 10 cents, others, a grand, but all of it adds up and that allows Steele to seek out small, non-descript restaurants and give them the surprise of a lifetime.

Steele says she loves doing what she does, and a surprise to her, is that her own children get extremely excited about the whole process. She feels that not only does it set a great example for them in terms of giving, but they also get to witness the pure joy of the servers that receive these large unexpected tips.
