In 1961-Comedian and actor, Ricky Gervais was born. He's 58 today!

In 1630-Governor John Winthrop, one of the founders of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and who Winthrop, Maine was named after, introduced the fork as a dining utensil. Apparently, it wasn't well received at first as colonists preferred wooden spoons, knives, and using their fingers.
