If you are driving through Greene Village, Maine, you may miss it. Like, miss the whole entire town, because it’s small but mighty.

If you do blink and miss it, you are making a big mistake.

Greene is the kind of town that feels like it was plucked from a Hallmark movie or storybook.

My mom lives there in a gorgeous, Harry Potter-style cottage, the flowers bloom in her backyard like they know her personally. Greene has that kind of magic.

Where is Greene village?

It’s sitting pretty between on Route 202 near Lewiston and the lakes region. The homes are beautiful, the people are beautiful, and if you lose your dog?

Half the town will be out with flashlights before you even post it on the Greene town Facebook page. It’s that kind of place. Where you know everyone by name.

Get this, recently a new bakery opened up and the entire village greeted the new business with so much love. They show up and support their own.

This is why Greene Village is the sweetest town to visit.

If you’re a member of the Citizens of Greene Facebook page, you know it’s full of heart. From neighbors sharing throwback photos of Greene “back in the day” to local gems like fresh farm eggs for sale, it’s a beautiful reminder of what community really means.

No, they do not have a ton of shops and businesses but that is the best part. If you want a quiet summer afternoon, head to their gorgeous little library on, Main St. It’s called the Julia Adam Morse Memorial Library.

It’s cozy and gives you that hometown feel. Even the librarian know you and exactly what type of book you’re looking for.

There is an old charming white church on Main street, the streets are winding and beautiful and when you’re in Greene, you feel like you a part of a family.

You could just blow right past it on 202 without a second thought but slow down, take a breather, visit the bakery, grab a cookie and sit outside, and listen to the sounds of the birdsong.

Greene, Maine may be small, but it’s heart is massive.
