Whitefield Man Taken Down by K9, Arrested, Charged Following Standoff
According to The Kennebec Journal, a Friday night standoff at 299 Hunts Meadow Road in Whitefield ended with an arrest after a Maine State Police K9 unit was able to subdue a male suspect.
Police were called to the residence around 5:40 Friday evening following complaints that a man was threatening a woman with a pistol.
After police responded, it became apparent that a woman and two other men had fled the home and were then interviewed by police on scene, according to the KJ.
The Maine State Police Tactical and Crisis Negotiation teams were called in to assist but were unable to make contact with the suspect as the night wore on.
Eventually, police were able to deploy a Maine State Police K9 unit to subdue the suspect, 64-year-old, Edward Poch, who was resisting arrest. Poch was taken to the hospital with bite wounds to his arm. He was treated, released and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail and is expected to appear in court this week, according to the KJ.
Poch is charged with domestic violence assault, posession of a firearm by a prohibited person, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence, the KJ reports.
