Whooping Cough More than Doubled in Maine in January
Whopping cough is on the rise in Maine…but most of the cases taking place in three counties.
Now, pertussis is a contagious disease that is also known as "whooping cough." The Bangor Daily News reports Maine had 55 reported cases of pertussis in January.
As for the three counties…the cases in January were in Hancock, York and Waldo counties. Hancock had the most with 16, York had 13 and Waldo had 10.
Whooping cough can be deadly for little kiddos and there is a vaccine is easily available. But check out the info...the more you know about whooping cough the better prepared you will be.
