The Capitol city of Maine is on and popping right now in the real estate arena.

Believe it or not Augusta has officially become the hottest city in the housing market and I have all of the details, according to WGME.

If you are thinking about buying, this place may definitely be the spot for you.

For so many years now, this city has been a bit overlooked, but now, it’s having a serious glow-up.

If you’ve heard of Zillow, they have compiled data which is showing that the values of homes in the city of Augusta and nearby towns like Vassalboro and Farmingdale are expected to grow more then any other place in the entire state, by next year.

Meanwhile, Portland’s housing are starting to cool off a bit with their prices.

What’s Making the Augusta Housing Market Spike?

Let’s break it down. Homes in Augusta are still affordable with the average home under $280,000, compared to Portland massive $574,000 price.

That is a huge difference and make a lot of sense on which way to go especially of first-time home buyers,

And it’s also not just about the prices, right? People are interested in good schools, safe communities, affordable services.

And, according to the article, Augusta has been investing in new housing with smart infrastructure making it even easier to build here as well.

As per the article, one of the local realtors commented saying,

“You’re going to get a lot more for your money. Those communities are changing. They’re more walkable, have more restaurants and things. We’re seeing a lot of Mainers move from here up to those spots.”

And that’s exactly what buyers are looking for!

If you are on the hunt for your dream home in Maine that won’t make you completely house poor and stressed, keep those eyes on Augusta because it might just be your new favorite spot to live.
