Considering it is still early March, it was a really nice day today.  So nice, that I spent my lunch driving around, windows down, blasting music.

Then, the Latto song "Big Energy" came on and something dawned on me...  The song is a grandchild!

What do I mean by that?

Out in late 2021, the song "Big Energy" is based on Mariah Carey's 1995 song "Fantasy".  "Fantasy" was based on the Tom Tom Club's early 1980s song "Genius of Love".

So, "Genius of Love" is the grandparent, "Fantasy" is the parent", and "Big Energy" is the grandchild (or child of "Fantasy".

Follow my logic?

Not familiar with Latto?  According to Wikipedia, Alyssa Michelle Stephens now goes by the stage name Latto.  Previously, she has gone by Mulatto, Big Latto, and Miss Mulatto.  Stephens was born in Ohio in 1998, but her family moved to the Atlanta area when she was just two years old.  Before getting into music, she participated in drag racing.

Her first break came in 2016 when she was a contestant on the Lifetime reality TV series The Rap Game.  In 2020, she was a part of the XXL Freshmen Class.

2022 is shaping up to be a big year for Latto.  She'll release a new studio album later this spring and also be hitting the road for her "777 Tour".
