On Wednesday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m., the Waterville Opera House will welcome Black Violin, the acclaimed duo known for fusing classical string music with contemporary sounds. The performance takes place at the historic Waterville Opera House at 1 Common Street in downtown Waterville.

Black Violin features violinist Kev Marcus and violist Wil Baptiste, who have been performing together for nearly two decades. Their signature style blends traditional string arrangements with hip-hop rhythms, pop influences, and dynamic vocals, creating a genre-defying sound that resonates with audiences of all ages.

The group has earned national recognition, with NPR praising them for helping keep classical music relevant and accessible to younger generations. In addition to touring extensively — performing close to 200 shows each year — Black Violin is deeply committed to community outreach. The duo regularly performs for students in underserved communities and has reached more than 100,000 students over the past year alone.

This event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund, which helps make live performances more affordable and accessible to young people in the community. Tickets for the show range from $52 to $147.

Black Violin’s upcoming performance offers a unique opportunity to experience innovative live music in an intimate venue. Whether you enjoy classical traditions, modern genres, or simply an engaging night of entertainment, this concert promises a memorable evening in downtown Waterville.
