Gov. Paul LePage Declares MLK Day as a ‘Day of Service’

Maine Gov. Paul LePage Sunday proclaimed Monday to be the Martin Luther King, Jr. 'Day of Service.' The governor says the Martin Luther King holiday was designated as a national day of volunteer service when it was first enacted back in 1994 and it's the only federal holiday commemorated as a national day of service.

The proclamation calls on Mainers to pay tribute to King's life and work by participating in community service projects on the holiday and throughout the year.
