Thankfully the storm is over! At home in Auburn, we got about 27 inches of snow over the 24-hour period. I say 27 inches, because that was the measurement reported in Lewiston on the news last night at 11 pm. It certainly felt like more when it came to snow blowing and shoveling.

Last night thankfully while I was here at work, my wonderful wife and our boys went out to take care of the beast that was “Juno” or the “Blizzard of 2015.” Because of them, I was able to easily get into my driveway last night when I got home from work.

Of course today Lynn had to go to work and after the city plow tucks came by a few times overnight we were plugged back in. This was on top of the snow that fell after the shoveling and snow blowing that was done last night.

Lynn and I were out this morning early once again shoveling and snow blowing. After the driveway entrance was finished, I drove Lynn to work. This means I have to pick her up tonight after the show because her car was so buried you literally couldn’t even see it. Trust me I’m using the word “literally,” literally.

When I got back home from taking Lynn to work I started on my mother-in-law’s car, she leaves her car with us during storms so she doesn’t have to clean it or move it when the plow comes to her building.

In hindsight, this may not have been a good idea. But it seemed like it would work, we parked my mother-in-law’s car and Lynn’s car over areas we would have to shovel. One car was parked over a path to the oil tank pipe and the other over a path to our side door.

My mother-in-law’s car was actually not that hard to shovel out, clean and move, I just had to shovel behind it a bit as I didn’t feel like dying due to carbon monoxide poisoning. All in all, her car took about 15 minutes to move back in place in the driveway.

Lynn’s car was a whole different kettle of fish. I took the same approach with Lynn’s car as I did my mother-in-law’s, but the difference was that I got stuck when I tried to drive it off the lawn, and to make matters worse, I couldn’t get out of the car because I had moved far enough forward that door was up against a snow bank. Eventually I “Houdinied” my way out, but it made me nervous again due to the exhaust ventilation.

All is well that ends well, I guess. Thanks to my boys for shoveling around Lynn’s car so I could drive it out into the driveway.
