As 'Star Wars: Episode 7' speculation continues regarding the original 'Star Wars' cast's return, we take a time-out from that buzz to focus on another crucial character in the franchise's universe: Lando Calrissian. Will Han Solo's smooth operator of a friend also be appearing in the next trilogy?

Billy Dee Williams has spoken out about the possibility, and his comments just might surprise you! And yes, it's definitely more substantial than the last time Williams addressed the matter.

Williams was recently a guest of the horror/sci-fi convention Monster Mania, and an enterprising fan (reported via Film Buff Online) took a moment to ask the man if he's ready to strap on Calrissian's cape again. Williams' answer, apparently, was that "he has been asked, but hasn’t decided if he is going to do it or not yet."

That's fairly startling, if true. Would Williams really turn down a chance to reemerge as unquestionably his most famous character? The actor is almost 76 years old, which could very well be a contributing factor to his hesitance. It's not likely that Lando would be figuring in as a major character in 'Star Wars: Episode 7' (although that's pure speculation, of course), but it would be interesting to see if Williams' decision effects J.J. Abrams' film one way or another. If Williams says no, will Abrams and screenwriter Michael Arndt have to change their script substantially?

What do you think, would you like to see the return of Lando Calrissian? Sound off in the comments.
