Are you watching the World Baseball Classic? Yes I know, it’s only the third installment and it is referred to as a “classic”, I get that but it’s still baseball that means something. The U.S. won two games out three in the first round for the right to move on to the second round. That second round for the U.S. starts tonight as the U.S. takes on Puerto Rico. I don’t quite understand the tournament but it seems pretty much like a double elimination tournament at least until this point. Isn't Puerto Rico part of the U.S. but I digress?

We’ve been planning a vacation to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick this summer, hotel and minivan are reserved. The only thing left really is getting the passports. Getting passports is a long time overdue, meaning that we should have probably gotten them four years ago.

A penny saved is a penny earned is no longer something Canadians will be saying as the Royal Mint as done away with pressing new pennies. It costs more to make a penny than a penny is worth. It costs 1.6 cents to make a cent. Canada has stopped making the penny because it no longer makes cents. Okay, I’ll stop with the puns.

Today is “Terry Fox Day.” Who is Terry Fox? I’ll tell you. When I was growing up in Canada there was an athlete, more importantly an 18 year old with a goal. In 1980, Fox set out to raise a million dollars by running across Canada from east to west. At the time he thought he had beaten cancer but in the end it took him.
