The unemployment rate in Maine dropped to 5% in February 2015. 

The unemployment rate in Maine, which is now at 5%, is down from 5.2% in January and is down almost a full point in the past year. In real numbers, it means 7,000 fewer people are looking for work today than were looking at the same time last year. This brings the number of people looking for work in Maine down to 34,400.

Maine is a half a percentage point lower than the national average at 5.5%. The national average is also sightly down from January at 5.7%.

When it comes to New England, Maine is pretty much smack dab in the middle of the pack with Connecticut and Rhode Island following with higher unemployment numbers.
