Without a doubt, one of the best Independence Day celebrations in New England is in Augusta, Maine.  Considering Augusta is the capital of the State of Maine, it only makes sense that the city would be home to an amazing 4th of July celebration.

The celebration planned for 2023 is no exception to the rule.

The staff from the City of Augusta have a full day of family fun planned!

The Parade

Independence Day would not be complete without a parade, right?  As in years past, the Augusta parade will get kicked off at 10 AM.  It will leave the State House parking lot, travel down Capitol Street, turn onto State Street, go through the rotary, and travel down Water Street.  It will then cross the Kennebec River and travel up the hill where it will end at Old Fort Western.

Mill Park

Mill Park will be the center of all of the action throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

In the afternoon, there will be old fashioned carnival games like Plinko, Ring a Bat, Tin Can Alley, Skee Roll.  There will also be a petting zoo, a juggler, a magician, and a balloon twister.  They also plan to have a dunk tank.

In the evening, there'll be live music from local favorites Ellis Falls and Martin & Kelly.

The Fireworks

One of the best fireworks displays in the state will cap off the night.  The show will start at about 9:15.  Best viewing will be from Mill Park in Augusta.

Whatever you plan on doing for the 4th of July, have fun and be safe!
