I debated whether to write on this today and in the end I am going to say something. I'm quite sad this morning. A 7th grade student at my son's school died on Tuesday.  We received a phone call from Auburn Middle School yesterday at about 12:30 pm.  It was the Principal telling us a 7th grade student passed away and that a letter would be coming home with more information.

As a father of a 13 year old this hits me and brings me to tears. I don't know the family but all I can tell you is I can't even imagine how his family must feel. You're not supposed to bury your young. My son didn't know him but still what do you say? How do you handle this as a peer?

Looking over the boy's Facebook tribute page, this young man was very active and always had a smile. He was a Young Marine. He played hockey and by all accounts looked to be happy. I don't know the cause of death. I've heard from two people on what it was but out of respect for the family I'm not going to post that here. If the family wants to talk about anything they can speak.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and may you rest in peace.
