250 ‘NEW’ Words Added to Merriam-Webster Dictionary
The country's political climate has now stretched into Merriam-Webster's new edition. The dictionary will now include 250 new words.
The new additions include, 'alt-right,' which gained prominence during the recent presidential election. Alt-left, however did not make the cut!
Also added is 'dog whistle.' It is defined as: "...an expression or statement that has a secondary meaning intended to be understood only by a particular group of people."
Other new entries are: 'face mask,' 'froyo,' 'ransomware,' 'showrunner' and 'troll.' 'Troll' is not the evil character lurking under a bridge, but is someone mocking public statements, postings, or acts.
