A Body Has Been Found Inside a Maine Dam, Officials Say
According to WMTW News 8, a body was found Monday afternoon in the Barker Mill Dam on the Little Androscoggin River.
The body was discovered on Monday morning near the dam and officials were called in to investigate. WMTW says crews were able to remove the body which was near one of the sluice gates inside the dam.
According to the Auburn Police Department, they believe the body is that of 67-year-old Mark Conley. Conley is from Naples and has been missing for months. Most recently, officials found Conley's car submerged in the river back in January.
Conley's car was found just days after State Police had pinged his cellphone in the area of Lewiston/Auburn on Christmas eve, WMTW reports. Officials found the car in the river on January 3rd of this year with a smashed out window and no one inside.
The body has been taken to an area funeral home where the State Medical Examiner will attempt a positive identification on the remains. We will keep this story updated as more information becomes available.
