A Maine Man Was Killed Over The Weekend After a Garage Roof Collapses
According to reports from WGME 13, a man mas is dead following a tragic accident that happened in Rockland, Maine over the weekend.
WGME reports that there was a demolition project happening on a garage on Crescent Street in Rockland on Saturday. During the project, the roof of the garage collapsed and landed on top of one of the workers. WGME reports that the victim was 37-year-old, Kendall Ross, of Rockland.
WGME says they were told by the Rockland Fire Department that it is pretty uncommon to get 911 calls for structure collapses. However, the department was able to use inflatable rescue bags to re-lift the weight of the roof. After that, firefighters used a rope to pull the victim from the debris.
Rockland Fire Department Chief, Chris Whytock, told the news station in part,
“On the way down there just running things through your head. Just making sure certain steps are followed. One, make sure we’re safe and also make sure if the patient is underneath and viable then we do things safely on that front. In fact one of the members had referenced their muscle memory had kicked in from all the training we’ve done with the equipment."
According to a GoFundMe page that has been setup for Kendall Ross, he leaves behind a fiancé and five children.
