According to WGME 13, a 31-year-old man from El Salvador has been arrested after he was allegedly driving drunk and hit to female pedestrians near Tassel Top Road in Raymond, Maine over the weekend.

Cumberland County Sheriff's Office responded to Tassel Top Road on Saturday night after reports that a vehicle had struck multiple pedestrians.

Police say that they were able to determind that Jose Gomez, 31 of El Salvador, had been driving his SUV while under the influence of alcohol when he struck two women that had been walking along the roadway.

WGME reports that the SUV continued driving down the hill driving back over one of the women.

The news station reported that both of the female victims were taken from the scene to Portland's Maine Medical Center for treatment. One of the women had only sustained minor injuries, though the other woman suffered what officials called 'serious injuries'.
