Maine School Official Resigns Following Offensive Tweets About Transgenders, Minorities

It's always a good idea to pay attention to what you're putting out into the ethos of the internet, especially when you consider the fact that anything that goes out onto the world wide web is literally there forever. Nothing is ever truly delete-able.

This just became a major issue for one Maine school official. According to WGME 13, the person in question is the director of the school board for Maine's RSU 21. It's reported that Ryan McQueen had shared multiple 'offensive tweets' that included indecent speech towards transgenders, people of color and women.

Another member of RSU 21, Terri Cooper, had this to say in regards to the incident;

“We stand for inclusion and fostering a healthy learning environment for our students and a safe working environment for all of our employees. We will not allow members of our community to be targeted by or subjected to bigotry. Over the past three school years, we have been engaged in significant work around diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we are proud that our efforts will continue and expand moving forward.”

McQueen, who has since resigned from his position as school board director, has reportedly already changed the settings of his Twitter account to private so that people who he doesn't accept as followers cannot see his tweets and retweets. He changed these settings after realizing that screenshots of his tweets were beginning to circulate in the area.
